Eczema in Babies

Eczema is a skin disease which is normally known as skin rash. Eczema in babies is more common than adults. It is often witnessed to be appeared in first birth year of a baby. It usually affects the skin of scalp, cheeks and forehead of a baby and when it becomes severe, it escalates to other body parts like legs, arms, stomach, chest, etc. According to a research on eczema in babies, more than 20 percent of children suffer from eczema.

Symptoms of Eczema in Babies

The symptoms of eczema in babies vary from one person to another according to age, type and the severity of the disease. Most common symptoms of eczema in babies are the following;

• Dry Skin
• Skin Rash
• Skin Itching
• Burning Sensation
• Crusty Skin

Sometimes, the eczema in babies occurs for a short period of time even based on a few hours and can be treated through over the counter medicines, but in some cases it is prolonged over weeks and in some cases in months or years. In such a case, eczema in babies is believed to be chronic and is required to be treated seriously.

Causes of Eczema in Babies

• There is not an exact known cause of eczema. In most cases, it is said to be inherited. So eczema in babies is usually due to the reason of the presence of this particular disease in a close family member, most probably parents of a baby.
• The eczema can also be caused by some allergens present n the diet of your baby or in diet of a mother who breastfeeds her child.
• It can also be caused by some chemicals in soaps, lotions or shampoos so mothers should be very careful while choosing soaps and lotions for their children.

• Baby eczema treatment can be done through medications, but the medication process usually involves risk factors and does not address the root cause of the disease. So there is a possibility of disease coming back while damaging the health of your baby. So it is always preferable to opt for home remedies for baby eczema treatment.
